As International Women’s Day approaches on March 8th 2024 at Quite Great we are proud to highlight some of the women we have worked with over the years, from some of the very best in the music industry Cher, Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey and Joyce Sims to World music pop sensation Wiyaala, as well as many more women, whose names may not be so recognisable but nevertheless women who have contributed significantly to the world in music, arts and literature. Let’s not forget though this focus on women does not begin or end on this date, as we know women’s influence in the world is powerful and impactful and this positive movement needs to be continually focused on, helping to create a consistently better future for all girls.
‘International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.’
As women most of us are fully aware of the positive impact we have in society and having a day to shine a light on this subject is always a great opportunity to continue the focus. However whilst being aware of the exciting possibilities out there, as women we are also often challenged with the decisions we have to make in life, whether that is due to family choices or possible lingering stereotyping and unfair pay differences within the job sector. Apparently though, ‘women hold just one in five commercial roles on the boards of Britain’s 350 largest listed companies’ (Guardian Nov 23), so no doubt, within certain sectors, there is still room for huge improvement.
Creating the best and most exciting opportunities in the future for every girl in the world is something the majority of women aspire to do, as we see so many more doors open every year . Girls should be encouraged from a young age to realise they can work in almost any industry and achieve their very highest expectations with hard work, honesty and initiative. Whether they feel their future is in music, arts, sport, fashion, construction, computers, gardening, whatever it may be – literally the world is their oyster and there are really few limits to the success and heights our girls and indeed us women can achieve.
