‘Falling Rocket’ by Paul Thomas Murphy Including reviews from. The Spectator, Country Life, The Lady, Times Literary Supplement, Oxford Mail, Chap Magazine, BBC History Magazine ….
‘I am incredibly pleased with what Quite Great has done to make the UK launch of my latest book, ‘Falling Rocket’, a great success. They brought a remarkable creativity and an equally remarkable persistence to the task of getting ‘Falling Rocket’ before the right people, resulting in really great media coverage. I’ve worked with a number of publicists in the US and the UK in promoting my books and Quite Great has outdone all of them in generating excitement.’ Paul Thomas Murphy
We were honoured to be asked to organise the UK PR book campaign for Paul Thomas Murphy’s fascinating and entertaining account of the defining trial of modern art in the late 19th Century, between Whistler and Ruskin. ‘Falling Rocket’ is the untold story of the battle between these two giants in art, over the painting ‘Nocturne in Black and Gold: The Falling Rocket’. With our in house art history knowledge this was a very exciting art book PR campaign which we thoroughly enjoyed.
The PR book campaign for ‘Falling Rocket’ was met with great enthusiasm and therefore interest by some of the best book reviewers in the UK. Including Country Life, The Lady, Spectator, BBC History Magazine, The Chap Magazine and the Times Literary Supplement.
‘Paul Thomas Murphy’s informative and entertaining book is a double biography of Whistler and Ruskin and blow-by-blow account of their ‘battle for modern art’…All of which comes together to make for an account that will appeal to aficionados and amateurs alike with its mix of history and action.’ Chloe Ashby, The Spectator https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/the-splatter-of-green-and-yellow-that-caused-uproar-in-the-victorian-art-world/
‘This fascinating book is a fresh and entertaining look at the changing art world towards the end of the 19th Century.’ The Lady https://lady.co.uk/books-february
Combining our knowledge of art history with our PR experience we began the campaign by specifically targeting the media. These we knew would love and appreciate this book as much as we did, both nationally and regionally. National media publications from Country Life to the Times Literary Supplement and The Lady. To The Chap Magazine, BBC History Magazine and The Spectator. Were all some of our contacts who kindly reviewed the book with great enthusiasm. Regional PR was also important for this campaign, respecting the background of the author. The regional PR was extremely successful. https://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/24847190.new-book-tell-story-oxford-art-critics-historic-court-case/
As well as media coverage we also were keen to contact specific organisations. Connected to these two great art history influencers. These contacts created some very successful PR events and further coverage for the author and ‘Falling Rocket’. The campaign was and hopefully will continue to be a huge success. Sharing this art history story with as many people as possible enjoying the book.</p>
