During a period when we’ve all had more time at home, this could be the perfect opportunity to think about how and where we hang our pieces in the home to make the best of them and to become our daily inspiration.
A room can be brought alive by art, whether these are large or small, expensive investments or simply family memories or our own works. Take a wall and create!
Arranging the pieces you want on a floor or table first can help you decide what and where each piece can go, or sketch a plan on paper and see what feels good for you. They do not have to be symmetrical or placed in an orderly fashion, different shapes and sizes create interest and take the eye to explore and be inspired. We all have blank walls that can become our hanging canvas to display our works to lift and motivate us.
Visual artist Brian Parker’s works are contemporary aesthetic pieces using line and colour to please the eye so can easily be mixed on a wall. Different sizes work well to vary the display, starting with the largest and fitting in and around smaller sizes and shapes. Obviously, framing is also an important factor of all artworks, so this should also be considered – frames can be brightly coloured or maybe some pieces are purely on canvas. Work out what works for you in your home styling, the fun is in the irregularity, the individuality of your personal display. Some pieces could even rest against a mantlepiece creating texture and variety.
Have fun, enjoy your art – create your own home gallery which you can enjoy and be inspired by.
