About Childbirth Choices Matter
Let’s hear their story.
During the summer of 2020, three months after the nation was put into the first national lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Home of Independent Midwifery (IMUK) announced the withdrawal of commercial professional indemnity (PII) for self-employed midwives from 30 June 2020. This disappointing news came about after the American insurance provider who IMUK had been using decided to leave the UK market and meant that thousands of UK’s self-employed midwives would no longer be able to provide labour and birth care after this date.
Since this date, IMs have seen their insurance premiums rise to £7,500 per birth – an absolutely staggering amount which has created a massive wealth gap between those who can access these services and those who can’t.
After an exhaustive search generating no luck in finding an alternative insurance supplier, Childbirth Choices Matter, a collective group of six women including NHS midwives and independent midwives (IMs) knew they needed to do something. As a solution, this group of health professionals created a fundraising campaign with the aim to raise £3m in order to create their own insurance product and get thousands of IMs across the country back into employment; ultimately giving personalised one-to-one support to expecting mothers and giving them full choice in their birthing choices.
As part of their fundraising efforts, experienced singer-songwriter Nickita wrote a charity single, ‘Breath again’, which was released on Mother’s Day 2021 with all of the track’s profits going towards the campaign. Having suffered the heartbreak of multiple miscarriages herself Nickita sings straight from her heart with raw passion and emotion – a must-listen for everyone.
How did Quite Great help Childbirth Choices Matter?
To help them increase awareness – and funds towards such a good cause – of their campaign, Childbirth Choices Matter approached Quite Great to help them share their important message – and we’re proud to say that we successfully met and exceeded all and any expectations.
Through our connections in mass high-profile publications, we successfully secured Childbirth Choices Matter a slot in a variety of relevant publications such as Yes Gurl, Women Making Waves, Charity Today, and the Sunday Post to name a few; altogether we successfully secured the fundraising campaign an editorial slot in over 20+ publications – exposure they wouldn’t have gained without the support of our experts and the connections they have across the media industry.
The fundraising campaign gained PR exposure in national press
Out of the 20+ publications, Childbirth Choices Matter story was published in multiple national press newspapers including the prestigious Express and Star, and the Sunday Post.
The latter was strategically chosen because of their incredibly high monthly circulation – which according to the Press Gazette was 66,059 in March 2021 – and also because of the demographics of their readers, decision-makers. Found at the centre of their families, the average age of a Sunday Post reader is 57 and someone who supports and cares greatly for their children and grandchildren alike. Targeting this age group was key with our marketing efforts because we knew they would feel a deeper personal attachment and connection to the fundraising efforts – something we needed in order to secure donations.
Quite Great got Childbirth Choices Matter published in charity publications
Alongside exposure in high-profile national press publications, our experts here at Quite Great also achieved Childbirth Choices Matter exposure in appropriate charity publications such as Charity Today, the nation’s leading news publication with a daily average website view of 59,238.
Our strategy behind publishing Childbirth Choices Matters’ story in this particular online publication was that because it is the nation’s leading news publication for charity-related articles, this means it has built up a reputation as a source that shares heart-warming stories about charities and their fundraising activities; a source which people can trust, admire and rely upon for legitimate, reliable news.
When speaking about our PR and marketing services, Nikita said: “amazing company! Very knowledgeable team who are incredibly friendly, kind, and attention – the attributes that any company is looking for when looking for a PR and marketing agency. The team at Quite Great is at the top of their game and I couldn’t recommend them enough. Thank you for all your hard work, determination, and passion for what you do”.
