How many times have you thought there was an art exhibition coming up that you were definitely going to attend, but then due to busy lives, you just forgot at the crucial time? Suddenly time has ticked by…and you missed it? Something like this happens regularly and it is only really through constant and appropriate drip feed reminders, through marketing and PR that an artist can guarantee to cut through the noise of life and get potential clients through the door.
In addition to focused updates one simple eye- catching idea is to THINK BIG. ‘Oversized’ installations that grab the attention of the press and of course cannot be ignored by all passersby are a great example of how original marketing and tried and tested PR ideas can work very well.
At Quite Great PR we pride ourselves on having both exciting ideas and clarity of direction, allowing us to both think outside of the box and ‘tune’ the box in too!, This we do by really getting to understand and most of all care for our clients the best we possibly can. Perhaps the best example of this from our point of view is the wonderful campaign we conducted with the fine art photographer Gary Nicholls which involved the use of our projection mapping team transforming the streets of Brick Lane and Spitalfields in the build up to his London art exhibition . Nicholls’ stunning and eye- catching images literally could not be ignored! Resulting in his Steampunk style, staring down on everyone from prestigious architectural locations around the area. Thereby most of all igniting the key part of any campaign, getting people talking!
Marketing your project creatively will have an instant impact and if the idea is also fun then your visitors and potential clients will be well on the way to attending. To see how thinking big with simple eye catching ideas can work so well , you only need to look at The Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge and their stunning giant pineapple which proudly acts as a way to attract visitors to their wonderful ‘Feast & Fast’ exhibition which works perfectly, lit up at night as well ! Who could possibly ignore this – not a dangling carrot but an enormous pineapple! Simple and yet impactful!

To me art is always such a personal thing. We should all be visiting the array of wonderful exhibitions that are so regularly put on for us and especially when they are free. These shows not only create interesting events but also the most amazing educational opportunities, especially when all our talented curators bring us such a vast and fascinating range of differing topics from food to photography. Combined with imaginative PR and Marketing created often by unique and passionate Fine Art PR Agencies like Quite Great we really should have no excuses not to make the most of all our local and national galleries and at the same time support Art in the UK!
