After the past 18 months most of us have suffered in some way but one of the most important things hopefully most of us have also learnt is to be kind and caring to each other, something that costs nothing and can mean so much.
This year’s theme of ‘One Kind Word’ as part of the #antibullyingweek from 15th to 19th November, feels perfect, as that can really be all it takes, just asking if someone is OK ?
Lockdown isolated many people and the small acts of kindness so many people shared highlighted how kindness can be so impactful and really change people’s worlds, equally being afraid or intimidated by bullies can destroy peoples lives. Many of us have probably at some point in our lives experienced a bully of some form, whether at school, at Uni, in a club, even in a bus queue! With so many awareness week’s we can become complacent of their messages and possibly be dismissive of these campaigns, but the anti-bullying week message is important to us all, whatever age, class, religion or gender, we all know what it means and that by just being kind, not being afraid of the bullies, but by caring for the bullied, we can unite and be strong. In this unity we become powerful and this is what can defeat bullies and ultimately create a kinder more caring world, where we are not afraid of bullies, but perhaps feel sorry for the sadness that is obviously part of their lives.
As the campaign highlights and we all know is so true, one kind word can lead to another — ‘So from the playground to Parliament, from our phones to our homes, together our actions can fire a chain reaction that powers positivity’
Let’s do this! Be Kind, Be Caring & Stop Bullying of any shape or form wherever you see it.
