About Manchester Academy of Gymnastics (MAG)
Registered charity Manchester Academy of Gymnastics (MAG) is a world-class gymnastics and boxing centre – and in fact one of the best places to train for gymnastics in Salford. The academy provides paid and subsidized coaching for all ages with a specific focus on local and disadvantaged young people in the local community.
In addition to providing coaching for all ages, the academy also provides classes in boxing for all ages and levels from beginner through to competitive level; all of which are delivered by local European Stephen Foster Junior. Son of Salford legend and English professional boxer fighting in the super featherweight division, Steve “The Viking” Foster, Junior has had a striking career and continues to thrive in the professional boxing industry.
But, despite all this, the academy is at risk of permanently shutting its doors, waving goodbye to all its credentials, their lifeline to support kids, and their chance to give back to those in the local community. Their landlord is asking for full rent throughout lockdown – a substantial amount of £150,000 to stay alive – and without people attending coaching, this is merely impossible. This is why they have set up a fundraising campaign (you can help save their academy from closing by donating) and approached our specialists here at Quite Great to help them share their story and ultimately, help them raise funds to stay alive.
No matter your marketing requirement, we are confident that we can help you too. Contact our marketing experts today or alternatively, call us on 01223 844440 and let us help you.
How did Quite Great help Manchester Academy of Gymnastics?
Through our media connections in local and national press publications, we secured the fundraising campaign exposure in local publications such as Manchester Evening News and national press publications such as the Daily Mail – exposure it wouldn’t have gained without our expertise. Being exposed in a variety of different publications, more specifically in national press publications, meant that the story reached a much wider – especially as according to the Metro classified, the Daily Mail alone has a readership of 2.2 million – an incredible number – increasing its chances of receiving the donations they require to stay open.
Quite Great achieved extensive local press coverage in Manchester and across the UK
Founded in 1896, the Daily Mail is a British daily national newspaper; sister paper to The Mail on Sunday as well as the Scottish and Irish Editions, the Daily Mail was strategically chosen as one of the best publications to share MAG’s story.
The fundraising campaign was published in the Daily Mail in January 2021 and from there has received 131 shares across social media alone. This amount of shares is fantastic and demonstrates how the marketing efforts of our experts here at Quite Great were focused on the right platforms to gain maximise exposure, and ultimately, funds.
To support exposure in this prestigious national press publication, we also made sure to secure exposure in local publications such as the Manchester Evening News too. Founded in 1868, shortly before the Daily Mail, the Manchester Evening News is a regional daily newspaper that covers Greater Manchester, a city located in the North West of England. A well-respected regional publication, it was the perfect newspaper to share the fundraising campaign alongside the national press coverage.
This publication in the Daily Mail was fantastic to give the fundraising campaign the exposure it needed on a national level, whereas the Manchester Evening News was strategically chosen to give the exposure it needed on a more local level. Connecting with the readers, more specifically targeting those readers who use the centre, was a key objective behind all local marketing efforts.
But our team of specialists didn’t simply stop there. In addition to having their story published in the Daily Mail and Manchester Evening News, we also secure the fundraising campaign editorial space in Manchester That’s TV, Salford News, and About Manchester. All of which were strategically chosen as local-specific publications that had the best chances of reaching our desired target audience.
