Yesterday, Quite Great headed down to new London venue, Omeara, opened recently by Ben Lovett of Mumford and Sons, for the announcement event of their client Salute.
Salute is an innovative and pioneering new music platform looking to empower the next generation of talented music makers, not just those who are good singers. This is where Salute is different to the current talent shows which are already on the market: they aren’t about finding the next best ‘karaoke’ singer, they’re about finding a truly talented musician who has the complete package; songwriting and performing.
Initially when the competition opens on April 3rd, applicants will upload their music to the Salute portal where it will then be vetted and evaluated by industry professionals and curators. This listening phase continues until mid May when contestants will be narrowed down into a top 100. A public vote then decides a final six who will display their talents each week on the live shows in September, with the winner being announced in October.

On top of this, Salute has some of the best in the business backing the competition including former Undertones front-man, Feargal Sharkey, who is acting as the face of the brand.
The announcement event in London was all about unveiling the ethos of Salute to the world (with some cocktails and canapes thrown in for good measure). The Salute team were joined by special guests Jamal Edwards MBE, The Mac Twins and Kevin Tewis-Allen of Unilad, Salute’s online partner, who all gave talks. The event was closed with live performance from grassroots acts Neon Waltz, Navina and Winter Rose.
Feargal commented on his involvement in the event, saying: ‘I got involved when they connected with the PR company Quite Great PR, which is run by a guy called Pete Bassett. I used to work with Pete at Polydor Records back in the early 1990’s and I think it was Pete that suggested they come and have a conversation with me. I met with the guys, sat down with them, and speaking from my own personal experiences and background, I’ve always been partial to work with anybody who’s willing and looking to inspire, promote, support and give opportunities to young artists, musicians and performers, so I was more than happy to get involved and do what I could, and can, to help.’
Salute is set to take the world of talent-searching by storm with its unique platform, so keep your eyes and ears peeled. Salute is coming to you, very, very soon.
