Gary Nicholls is a unique steampunk fine art photographer and author who we’ve worked with on a number of occasions. Our focus for Gary’s PR campaign was not only to highlight his incredible talent as a fine art photographer whose stunning images are produced in limited edition prints on metal but also to reveal his remarkable project ‘The Imaginarium’. This impressive trilogy is a tale which is Dickens in style, steampunk in theme, told in a series of 150 fine art images in a trilogy of limited edition books.
Working with such an exceptional artist was a very exciting project that demanded an equally unique PR campaign. One of the ideas to promote Gary’s work was to target specific areas in Shoreditch using the location as a street canvas for Gary’s work. For one night only Shoreditch became a gigantic backdrop for the Caravaggio of steampunk, in the form of ‘Guerrilla street art pop-ups’! Selected images of Gary’s work were projected onto areas in Shoreditch which naturally attracted some great attention from both the press and Londoners who were lucky enough to see!
Raising the profile of an artist is important for their reputation not only in the art world but of course amongst galleries, curators, collectors, and buyers. Successful attention-grabbing PR campaigns like this enable an artist and his work to reach a much wider audience and obviously the more people that know about your work the better!
